Baseball
has truly become the world's sport - especially with Japan, Korea and
the Netherlands (as examples) doing so well in the most recent
World Baseball Classic; and the popularity of the sport in the
Carribean and Latin America. Following are some interesting
sites
to introduce you to the World of Baseball.
Cuban and American Baseball in Perspective An site featuring a discussion of Cuban and American baseball, in the context of the complex relationship between these two countries. Japanese Baseball Site (Japanese Baseball.com) Japanese Baseball Site #2 (Japan Ball.com) A couple great resource for those interested in Japanese baseball (like me!) - the league that featured MLB stars such as Ichiro Suzuki and Daisuke Matsuzaka. Plus, the home of of the World Wide Homerun leader - Sadaharu Oh. My personal favorite team - the Hanshin Tigers!! - who won the championship when I lived there in the late 80's and have a classic uniform. And also, the Yakyu Swallows baseball stadium, where The Babe played on a good will tour so many years ago. |
