A new book about Willie Mays entitled: "Willie Mays. The Life, The Legend" was recently released. Willie Mays played the majority of his career with the New York Giants (and then San Francisco Giants upon their move to that city), and finished his career with the New York Mets. Mays was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. He's considered one of the greatest all around baseball players in the history of the sport. He ended his career with 660 career home runs, hitting 50 or more home runs in both the 1955 and 1965 seasons, and is ranked fourth all-time for number of home runs. Mays is the only Major League player to have hit a home run in every inning from the 1st through the 16th.

Magic Mud - as featured on CNN.com.

A special mud is used on new baseballs before they are used in order to provide better control for pitchers.  The death in 1920 of the Cleveland Indians shortstop, the first and only player killed by a pitch in Major League history, precipitated a series of events leading to the use of a special mud from a specific mud hole for curing of baseballs.  It is used across Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball.
